Chaudhary Charan Singh
Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, came into existence on 2 February
1970 as a result of reorganization of the erstwhile Punjab agricultural
University.
The university inherited from its
predecessor four colleges; College of Veterinary Sciences (1948), College
of Agriculture (1962), College of Basic Sciences (1964) and College of
Anikal Sciences (1966). The Indira Chakravorty College of Home Science
(1973) was added subsequently. The College of Agricultural Engineering and
Technology was set up at Hisar in 1992, where as College of Agriculture at
Kaul came into existence in 1974. It has 10 Regional Research Stations for
conducting research in different agro-climatic zones to develop
location-specific appropriate technologies. In addition, university has
Krishi Vigyan Kendra in each district of the state for extension
activities.
