Jurisdiction / Area of Operation
University's
jurisdiction is Saurashtra region of Gujarat spread over the nine districts i.e.
Junagadh, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, Amreli,
Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath and Morbi covering Approx. 30% area of the
Gujarat state.

Major Area of Research
University has 24 research stations
including multidisciplinary main research stations, sub centres on various
crops and testing centres. These research stations are working in the
field of Agriculture, Horticulture and Agricultural Engineering, for catering
the needs of farmers, artisans, and rural masses for their upliftment. Total seven
AGRESCO sub-committees are formulated by the University viz., Crop Improvement, Crop Production, Plant
Protection, Horticulture & Forestry, Agricultural Engineering, Basic
Sciences and Social Sciences for review and planning of research in respective
field.

Laboratory on Ai, Robotics, Drone and Precision Agriculture libraries, smart

main research stations, sub centers on various crops and testing centers spread
over Saurashtra. In the University, there are 17 AICRPs, 50 Plan
Schemes and 21 Non Plan schemes are functioning for research. Apart from these,
the research work is also carried out in 52 sponsored projects by various other
agencies like GOI, ICAR, GOG, ICRISAT and Private Agencies. The research work is also carried out in the
Departments of the different colleges of the University.
Achievements
1. Only
Agricultural University of Gujarat and one among only nine Universities with
FIVE STAR rating by KCG, Govt. of Gujarat.
2. 57
Students undergone foreign training at reputed institute of USA, Tiwan, Israel,
Thailand, Dubai etc under world NAHEP-IDP project.
3. Total
73 crop varieties Developed, among them 69 crop varieties were notified were
notified under Section 5 of Seeds Act, 1966, 34 crop varieties were registered
under PPV & FRA.
4. Total
706 recommendation/ technologies/ implements/ equipment were developed for the benefits
of the farmers and total 359 recommendations were developed for the benefits of
the scientists/ entrepreneurs.
5. Completed
140 batches of 12 days certificate course on Insecticide Management as per
guideline of NIPHM with 5419 Dealers in just two years.
