The erstwhile University of Agricultural Sciences in Karnataka, established in 1964, had the operational bifurcated into two Agriculture Universities, viz. University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad through an amendment of the Act 1986.

The UAS, Bangalore has a territorial jurisdiction over 15 southern districts of Karnataka.

It has 11 Colleges. The degree programme is offered at 5 places (9 colleges). The programme covers 45 disciplines Master’s Ph.D, and 32 disciplines.
