Awareness on Gender Issues and Role of Young GenerationThe Basic Engineering and Applied Sciences, C.A.E.T., AAU, Godhra and Gender Resource Centre- State Resource Centre for Women, Ahmedabad jointly organized a workshop on ‘Awareness on Gender Issues and The Role of Young Generation’ on 16 Feb, 2019 at College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Godhra. In the inaugural session were Dr R Subbaiah, Principal and Dean, CAET, Godhra. Mr Amitbhai Dave, Consultant, GRC and Miss Himali Joshi, Training Specialist from GRC, Ahmedabad. Er. Kapil Mandloi, Assistant Professor& Head, BEAS, Prof Shefali K. Modi, Nodal Teachers of Gender Champion.
Dr. Subbaiah, Principal & Dean in his speech enlightened the importance of gender equality and also focused on the important role of female in every field in current scenario. Miss Himali Joshi introduced about the organization GRC and its important role to generate gender champions by educating the students as well as society about the policies, rules and regulations laid down by Govt. of India and Govt. of Gujarat.
The programme comprised as four sessions, highlighting the issues like technical inputs for Gender Planning, Gender Budgeting, Gender Analysis, Gender Convergence, and Gender Advocacy. The afternoon session was conducted by Mr. Shaileshbhai & Miss Bhavnaben from Gujarat State Child Protection Society. They focused on child protection act also informed about child line 1098.
Krushi Mela at KVK ArnejAll India Veterinary ProfessionalsThe students of College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, AAU, Anand participated in All India Veterinary College Table Tennis and Badminton tournaments and professional quiz competition organized by G. B. Pant University, Pantnagar during 14 to 16 Mar 2019. Sixteen Veterinary Colleges of the country participated in this event, and Total 290 students participated in it. The students of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Anand secured second position in the Quiz.

Vision 2030 for Dairy Industry and 13thALUMNI ConventionA national seminar on ‘Vision 2030 for Dairy Industry’ and 13th Alumni Convention were organized jointly by SMC College of Dairy Science and Alumni Association during 4-5 Jan, 2019 at SMC College of Dairy Science, AAU, Anand. Inaugurating the function by Dr. J. B. Prajapati, Principal and Dean, SMC College of Dairy Science, welcomed the dignitaries and the delegates from India and abroad. He briefed about the importance of Anand for dairy development and explained about the contribution of SMC College Dairy Science in dairy education and research in the country.
Dr. K. B. Kathiria, Director of Research opined that though several technologies are being regularly developed in the Institutes, it is very important that these percolate down to the consumer.
Prof. Hitesh Bhatt, Director, IRMA, Anand, pinpointed the major transformative roles the dairy industry would be playing by 2030, namely increasing the productivity of the milch animal as well as ensuring the value of dairy commodity for the consumers.
Dr. R.R.B Singh, Director, ICAR, NDRI, Karnal, graced the inaugural function as Guest of Honour. He pointed out that since the last decade the bovine and buffalo population has increased by 0.8% and 1.8% respectively. He stressed the need to address the issues related to non-productivity, semen sexing and reproductivity of milch animals.
Dr. R. S. Sodhi, Managing Director, GCMMF, Anand, began his address by claiming that dairy industry can play a major destressing role for farmers, by providing them an alternative yet lucrative source of income. He stressed on change in diet habit of people, with more inclusion of protein and fat rich food, where dairy products offer a good option.
Dr. N. C. Patel, VC, presided over the function. He emphasized the need to modernize the Indian dairy industry by using latest techniques like artificial intelligence. He suggested that the unorganized dairy sector needs to be tapped by professionals by providing them technical, educational and marketing support.
The 13thAlumni convention of SMC College of Dairy Science was organized on Saturday, 5 Jan, 2019 at Anand, There was august gathering of graduates and post-graduates of the 1993 and 1994. This event is religiously organized every alternate year by SMC College and its alumni association to honour its Silver jubilee batch of alumni, for their valuable contributions to their profession and to the society.
During this event, Dr J. R. Patel Memorial Awards for Education and Research as well as Dairy Professionals were given. Best Student awards for 2017 and 2018 were also presented. On this occasion 33 graduates and post-graduates of 1993 and 1994 batches were felicitated for their contributions to the dairy industry and the society.
