Management in 21st Century was organized by Dairy Business Management
Department, SMC College of Dairy Science during 6-25 Jul. 2015. Dr AK.
Makwana, Associate Professor, was Course Director, whereas Shri K.C. Kamani,
Assistant Professor, was Co-course Director of the Summer School. Total 23
participants from the SAUs of Gujarat, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra , Punjab, Rajasthan and Tripura attended this summer school.
National Fish Farmers' DayNational Fish Farmers' Day was observed jointly by the KVK, Devataj and the RRC, Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Anand on 10 Jul. 2015 at Aniket Farmers' hostel. Dr N.C. Patel, VC; Shri N.R. Patel, Deputy Director of Fisheries, Government of Gujarat; Dr K.B. Kathiria, Director (Research); Dr AM. Thaker, Principal & Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry and; Dr Sujata Bhatt, Head, Bio-Science Department, S.P. University; graced the occasion. Seven fish farmers from Anand and Kheda districts of Gujarat were felicitated, and two publications invernacular language were released on this occasion.
AI Technicians' Training by ARGO under RKVY
The Department of Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology & Obstetrics (ARGO),
College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, AAU, Anand organized
specialized fresh AI Technicians in-house training programme for 6 weeks under the
RKVY scheme of Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Gujarat through
the GCMMF, Anand, during 6 Jul. - 14 Aug. 2015. Total 25 participants from
Panchamrut (Godhra), Sursagar (Surendra nagar) and Sarhad (Kutch) Milk unions
took part in the training. After completing the 6 weeks of class-room training, the
participants are placed with experienced service providers of the respective Milk unions for further 6 weeks field training, before they are awarded certificate and placed independently on AI Centre for service to the farmers. The training was very effective, interactive and meaningful in improving the skill, confidence and knowledge in the subject, as per the results of periodical evaluation and feedback received from the participants and their sponsors. Dr AJ. Dhami, Prof & Head, ARGO acted as Course Co-ordinator and Dr M.T. Panchal, Professor, as course Director.
ASSAM AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, JORHATWorkshop on Package of Practices for Crops
The university and the Department of Agriculture, Government of Assam jointly
organized a workshop on Package of Practices Practices for Crops on 21 Dec. 2015
and recommended 53 crop varieties including 27 AAU-bred varieties of rice, greengram,
blackgram, lentil, toria, sesame, jute, lathyrus (forage) and amaranth and 66 other
production technologies for agronomical and horticultural crops for the state of Assam.
ICAR- sponsored Winter School organized An ICAR-sponsored Winter School on Advances in Organic Production System and
Conservation Agriculture was organized by the Department of Agronomy, during 24 Sept. 14
Oct. 2015, in which 19 agricultural scientists and teachers from all over the country
participated. Dr K.M. Bujarbaruah, VC, inaugurated the Winter School and highlighted the
importance of organic farming and conservation agriculture with special reference to North
East India. Eminent scientists of national institutes and officers of Government of Assam
delivered guest lectures, in addition to resource persons from the university.
SAC meeting of DBT - AAU Centre
The 8th Scientific Advisory Committee
(SAC) meeting of the DBT-MU
Centre was held under the
chairmanship of Dr K.M. Bujarbaruah,
VC. The meeting stressed upon development of the centre as a full-fledged institute of international repute. Itemphasized the need for research on organic agriculture. The centre has funded 11 innovative projects to various institutes of N.E.lndia. Meanwhile, patentable products and processes have been developed in two such projects.
