The Junagadh
Agricultural University was established on 1-5-2004 under
Gujarat Agricultural University Act-2004.
It was established specially for strengthening the triple
function of Agricultural Education, Research and Extension
Education.
The main objectives behind the establishment and incorporation
include:-

Teaching
set up in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries
and Post Graduation,

Research
work designed with multifaceted, location based programme,
thereby finding solution to production constraints
experienced by the farmers and
-
Transfer of
technology and vocational education for farm youths and
farmers in Agricultural Science and Agricultural Extension.
The seven
districts falling in its jurisdiction are Junagadh, Amreli,
Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Rajkot and Surendranagar.

provisions for imparting education in agriculture, allied
sciences and humanities

Advancement
of research in allied science

Extension
of agriculture and allied science to the rural population,

Teaching
basic sciences and humanities thereby supporting other
studies and integrating them in the curricula

promote the productivity of agriculture and

degrees, diplomas and certificates as may be deemed fit.
