The Meat scientists from university participated in the sixth Indian Meat Science Association Conference, and national symposium on ‘Sustainable meat production for nutritional security and consumer well-being* held at DUVASU, Mathura (U.P.). Dr Om Prakash Maiav and Dinesh Krofa were awarded best oralresearch presentation award, whereas Dr Akhilesh Verma and Dr Manish Kumar ChaHi were conferred with best poster awards.

Laurels to Pathologists

Senior Pathologists from the university bagged three prestigious national awards. Dr Naresh Kumar Sood, Senior Veterinary Pathologist and In-charge, Centralized Diagnostic Laboratory of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, was conferred 'Best Farm Animal Pathologist Award' for outstanding research on diseases of various farm animal species. Dr C.K. Singh, Senior Veterinary Pathologist was awarded Fellowship of Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists for the year 2014 for his outstanding achievements in Veterinary Pathoiogy. Dr Pranoti Sharma, M .Sc. student of Veterinary Pathology, bagged Young Scientist Award' for best oral research paper presentation, entitled least invasive ante-mortem diagnostic approaches for rabies' co-authored by Dr G.K. Singh, Dr D. Narang, Dr N.K. Sood, Dr B.S. Sandhu, Dr K. Gupta and Dr Apmindar Pal Singh Brar.

Aid to Biotech Programme

Biotechnology programme running under Department of Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering of Coliege of Basic Sciences and Humanities received sanction of Rs 1 crore from Department of Science and Technology of Government of India, This assistance has been received under 'FIST Programme-2014' after an evaluation of last 5 year achievements of biotechnology programme and recommendation of FIST Advisory Board. The amount received will be used in developing high-tech facilities with the use of latest equipment.

Dewang Mehta Business School Award to Dr D. P. Biradar

Dr D.P. Biradar, VC, was honoured with the prestigious “22nd Dewang Mehta Business School award", recently held in Mumbai. The award recognizes the talent and leadership amongst the educational institutions across India. It is in recognition of leadership, development, innovation and industry interface of institutes. The award is given in the memory of great IT guru to Government of India and many state governments, Shri Dewang Mehta, was head of NASSCOM during 1991-2001, an association dedicated to the needs of Indian software industry. The award is instituted in the memory of this IT prodigy, who died at a young age of 40 years Dr D.P. Biradar, VC, was warmly felicitated by the university in a function held an 21 Nov. 2014.
